In the past, this street was generally known as ‘Xinpu Street’ or ‘Xinpu Avenue’. It is the birthplace of Xinpu District, Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province. It is one of the four old streets in the historical development and changes of Lianyungang City. In the 1920s and 1930s, business here was prosperous and bustling. People at that time called it ‘Little Shanghai’ in northern Jiangsu. Not far to the north, a slightly smaller market street was correspondingly formed.

Because it is located to the north of the avenue, people call it ‘Back Street’ (now Jianguo Road). However, with the development of the main urban area, the scale of Xinpu urban area continues to expand, and urban industry and commerce begin to migrate eastward and southward. Nearly a hundred years have passed. Time has washed away the splendor this road once had. Now there is only an old alley left.

The former bustling and prosperous scene has gradually subsided. In April 2013, it underwent upgrading and renovation, and the historical and cultural block of Yanhe Lane was built to explore the cultural connotations of the city. With the theme of ‘Impression of Xinpu’, the old street with relatively rich history and culture in Xinpu has regained its vitality. Open all year round and open all day.

The specific business status is subject to the opening situation on that day.
