Huaian Grand Theater is situated in the core area of Huaian New City, to the east of Xiangyu Avenue and to the north of Mei Gao Middle Road. The design employs a simple and direct manipulation of basic geometric shapes – circles, combining several simple volumes with the upward momentum of the inclined vertical skin, creating a strong sense of ‘blossoming’. It symbolizes an art flower floating on a platform, elegantly blooming in Huaian New City. Meanwhile, the rhythm generated by the vertical lines of the curved glass curtain wall is like a melodious tune, conveying the internal functions of traditional Chinese opera and dance to the outside.
