The Martyrs Cemetery of the Southern Anhui Incident is located on Shuixi Mountain on the outskirts of Jingxian County. In early 1990, it was built to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the martyrdom of the New Fourth Army soldiers in the Southern Anhui Incident. The cemetery is composed of four major parts: the entrance monument, the theme square, the main monument commemorative square, and the tomb of unknown heroic martyrs.
It is combined with the exhibition hall of the Southern Anhui Incident. The length and height of each step and pillar have implications, marking specific events in the Southern Anhui Incident. The entire cemetery has a solemn and solemn atmosphere. The first part of the cemetery, the entrance, has a stone tower with southern Anhui characteristics. After entering the cemetery, going up 30 meters along the steps is the second part, the theme square. Turning right from the square and climbing the long steps again, you will reach the third part, the main monument commemorative square. The tall monument is inscribed with ‘Eternal glory to the martyrs who died in the Southern Anhui Incident’. Behind the monument is the fourth part, the tomb of unknown heroic martyrs. There is an ever-burning flame on the altar of the martyrs’ tomb. On the west side of the martyrs cemetery is the exhibition hall of the Southern Anhui Incident. Inside the hall, there are pictures and texts about the process of the Southern Anhui Incident and the deeds of the martyred soldiers. Opening hours: Open all year round from 08:00 to 17:00.
