The Guoshan Stele is located within the Shanjuan Cave Scenic Area. It is acclaimed as the ‘First Stele of the South of the Yangtze River’. According to the county annals: during the first year of the Tianxi era of the Wu Sun Hao period, a sudden fissure of more than ten zhang appeared on Yangxian Mountain, which was named Shi Shi. Hao regarded it as an auspicious sign, and the Prime Minister compiled a stele inscription, sending the Imperial Tutor Dong Chao to go for a Fengshan ceremony, naming it ‘Guoshan Stele’. This event dates back more than 1700 years ago, and the stele is listed as a provincial cultural relic in Jiangsu Province. Open all year round, it is open 24/7, with specific business status subject to the day’s opening conditions.
