Fushan is located 20 kilometers north of Lianzhou City, within the Bao’an Town. It is the 49th blessed place among the Daoist’s seventy-two blessed places in the world and holds a high religious status. Fushan is also one of the eight scenic spots of ancient Lianzhou, referred to by Southern Song Dynasty scholar Zhang Shi as ‘Jingfu Hanlin’. Fushan features its own eight scenic spots: Tianqu Yuxiu, Fuzi Huiluan, Jianjing Jiaoliu, Wenfeng Bingzhi, Pingchi Yinyue, Quanyuan Futiger, Xianren Jinzhang, and Zhushu Ye Guang. The area is well-known locally but not frequented by tourists from afar, thus maintaining a tranquil atmosphere. Surrounded by mountains on three sides, the local annals state: ‘The three peaks are sharp and elegant, reaching a height of 130 zhang, with peaks and ridges encircling and pine and cypress trees thriving.’ Ancient towering trees are everywhere, making it an ideal place for summer retreats. The Bao’an Town, where the temple is located, has a folk custom of ‘carrying the great god’ during the Double Ninth Festival, which involves parading ‘the great god’ through the streets, symbolizing the welcoming of auspiciousness by the people and is also a local folk custom. The opening hours are from 8:00 to 17:30 all year round.
