In Shidong Street, inside the city of Chuzhou, there is a simple and solemn ancestral hall – Guan Zhongjie Memorial Hall, which was built in memory of the national hero Guan Tianpei. Originally, it consisted of three main halls and two wing rooms, surrounded by an antique flower wall courtyard. On the altar, the statue of Guan Tianpei in official robes is lifelike. On both sides, a pair of attendants hold swords and books respectively. Above the entrance of the memorial hall hangs a long plaque with the words ‘Guan Zhongjie Memorial Hall’. On both sides of the hall hang nanmu elegiac couplets written by Lin Zexu by the great calligrapher Zhou Muzhai. Guan Tianpei’s tomb is built in Jiucun, Nanyao, east of the city. Beside the tomb, there is the sound of flowing water, and towering pine and cypress trees. Together with Guan Zhongjie Memorial Hall, it has become an important patriotic education base in Huai’an City. The specific business hours and opening status are subject to the opening situation on that day.
