Lüqiu Pavilion, one of the ten scenic spots of Tongli Ancient Town, is the legendary place where Chen Cui’e gifted the Pearl Pagoda to Fang Qing. In front of the pillars of Lüqiu Pavilion, a couplet is hung: ‘Fish delight, how can they know human delight; Spring clear, not as clear as a pure heart.’ Imagine: if fish also know human joy, have they become fish spirits? If a pure heart is as clear as a spring, all sorts of distractions vanish. Standing in Lüqiu Pavilion, facing the stone boat, the reflection appears in the pond, and with the breeze gently blowing, the reflection of the stone boat wrinkles, as moving as an oil painting.
