Suzhou Museum, located at No. 8 Tongji Yi Road, Yongqiao District, Suzhou City, Anhui Province, opposite the Suzhou Municipal Government Center, is a local comprehensive museum and a national second-level museum. The architectural style of the museum incorporates Han cultural elements, emulating the high-platform and large-roof structure of the Han Dynasty, with a marble exterior and a facade adorned with reliefs from Han Dynasty steles, exuding solemnity and antiquity.
The Suzhou Museum was completed and opened in October 2010, covering an area of 50 acres with a construction area of 10,000 square meters. As of July 2019, the museum displays over 700 cultural relics, integrating exhibition, collection, display, research, and dissemination. The museum spans three floors, with the first floor housing storage, office areas, temporary exhibition halls, and a folk art gallery. The second and third floors are dedicated to exhibiting the historical and cultural aspects of Suzhou, including seven sections: Jiuzhou Thoroughfare, Humanistic Origins, Qin-Han Grandeur, Bian River Throat, Ming-Qing Legacy, Modern Turmoil, and Talented and Auspicious Land. Opening hours are Tuesday to Sunday from 09:00 to 17:00 all year round; closed all day on Mondays; open on New Year’s Day, Spring Festival, Qingming Festival, Labor Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and National Day from 09:00 to 17:00.
