Shiwusi Temple is located in Zhancheng Town, Pizhou City, Jiangsu Province. It was built in the Northern Wei Dynasty and is named after the stone house behind the temple. Shiwusi Temple was formerly known as Sanguan Temple. In 520 AD, a wandering monk named Natou observed that this mountain had the beauty of’snake trails and tiger tracks, cranes stopping and springs gushing’. There were also two natural stone chambers with a circumference of about ten feet. Inside the chambers, a huge rock protruded, shaped like a dragon’s tongue. It was a masterpiece of nature. So he built a temple on the mountain.
