The location of Zhongshan Park in Zhongshan City is Yandun Mountain in the bustling downtown area of Shiqi. Yandun Mountain is also known as Fufeng Mountain and Shiqi Mountain. Shiqi is named after Shiqi Mountain. Since there is Shiqi Mountain, there is also Shiqi Sea. Shiqi Sea refers to the area along the Qijiang River today. Hundreds of years ago, it was a vast expanse of water. In 1946, overseas Chinese from Zhongshan raised funds to build a park in memory of Dr.

Sun Yat-sen. The park was located on Yandun Mountain and named Zhongshan Park. Zhongshan Park covers an area of 90,000 square meters. It is built against the mountain and is a mountain forest park. There are two memorial archways at the front and back of Zhongshan Park. These were both built after liberation. The four characters ‘Zhongshan Park’ were inscribed by Comrade Ou Chu, a revolutionary predecessor from Zhongshan.

During the period of Zhongshan’s occupation and the liberation war, he led revolutionary struggles in Wuguishan. On the mountainside of the park, there is a Zhongshan Memorial Pavilion. The Zhongshan Memorial Pavilion was donated by overseas Chinese and was built in 1948. The pavilion has eight columns at four corners. It is rectangular. At the connection between the upper part of the eight columns and the green glazed tile roof, there are patterns with the words ‘Zhongshan’.

There are plaques on both the front and back of the pavilion. There is ‘Zhongshan Memorial Pavilion’ on the front and Sun Yat-sen’s handwriting ‘For the Benefit of All Under Heaven’ on the back. It can be said to be extremely distinctive. The specific business hours and operating status are subject to the opening situation on the day.
