Situated atop the summit of Ru Mountain, adjacent to the Lengyan Temple, the Bao’en Pagoda is constructed with brick and stone and stands seven stories high. It was built during the Chongzhen era of the Ming Dynasty by Qin Guanyang. Born into a poor family in Zhenjiang, Danyang, Qin Guanyang dedicated himself to diligent study and eventually became a Jinshi, reaching the high rank of Minister of Personnel. To express gratitude for the nurturing by his hometown and to encourage future generations to study earnestly, he used his life’s savings to build this tower, naming it ‘Bao’en Pagoda’. Subsequently, it grew to become a landmark on the Yangtze River navigation channel. The opening hours and business status are subject to the day’s operational conditions.
