The tombstone carvings of the Southern Dynasties are located at the front of the spirit paths of the emperors and nobles’ tombs during the Southern Dynasties period. There are 12 such sites in Danyang, Zhenjiang, with a total of 20 stone beasts. The larger ones weigh about 30 tons, while the smaller ones weigh around seven to eight tons. These stone beasts are carved from a single giant stone with their pedestals, featuring elegant shapes, smooth lines, delicate yet unrestrained details, and exuding a rich Jiangnan artistic atmosphere.
