The Che Luo Dam Ruins were originally constructed in the twelfth year of the Yongle era of the Ming Dynasty by Chen Xuan, the Duke of Pingjiang. In the fortieth year of the Kangxi era, it was reconstructed into a stone dam by Zhang Penghe, a river official. The dam body is built with stone slabs and mortar. During the flood season of 1956, three layers of stone were added to the top of the sluice gate upstream, and in 1966, it was transformed into a toothed bar steel gate. The site is open all year round and accessible 24 hours a day.
