Located on the beautiful northern shore of Lake Taihu and on the Majishan Peninsula in the southwest of Wuxi, the Mashan Taihu National Tourist Resort is approximately 17 kilometers away from the city center of Wuxi.
Surrounded by water on three sides and adorned with lush greenery, the resort takes Majishan Town as its hub. In the southern part of the resort lies the renowned Buddhist sanctuary, Lingshan Giant Buddha, and the Longtou Zhu scenic spot on the northern lakeshore of Lake Taihu, where you can witness the harmonious blend of Buddhist culture and natural beauty.
The northern part of the resort is home to the Helv City Ruins Museum, which showcases the origin and legacy of the Wu culture.
The Mashan Taihu National Tourist Resort features dozens of resort hotels such as DoubleTree by Hilton, various agritourism experiences, and numerous fruit-picking orchards and outdoor expansion bases, including Qing Farm and Muwan Orchard.
The Majishan Peninsula also houses several golf clubs, including the Wuxi Taihu International Golf Club at the southern tip of the peninsula, a leisure sports venue that combines lakeshore and mountain scenery.
Majishan, also known as Maji Mountain, is said to have been visited by Emperor Qin Shi Huang during his eastern tour on horseback, leaving hoof prints behind, hence the name. Over 1300 years ago, Xuanzang, who returned from the Western Regions with sacred texts, visited Majishan and dispatched his disciples to establish temples on this land, which is the precursor to today’s Lingshan Sacred Site.
