The Suzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Museum, originally known as the ‘Ci Xian Tang’ of Shen Shixing, a top scholar and prime minister of the Ming Dynasty, opened its doors in 2002.
Suzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine is an integral part of Wu culture, historically referred to as the Wu School of Medicine, which originated from the four great masters of the Jin and Yuan dynasties and flourished during the Ming and Qing periods.
The museum’s layout is structured around historical development, with exhibits including diagrams, artifacts, books, and reconstructed scenes, vividly and directly reflecting the general outline and achievements of the development of Traditional Chinese Medicine in different historical periods of Wu. It serves as an educational base for historical materialism and patriotism.
Opening hours are from 8:00 to 17:00, closed on Sundays.
