Situ Temple is located at the foot of Dengwei Mountain in Xiangxuehai Village, Guangfu, and is a temple dedicated to the worship of General Deng Yu, the Grand Commandant of the Eastern Han Dynasty. Inside the temple, four ancient cypress trees are said to have been planted by Deng Yu himself, with a unique and ancient appearance, dating back more than 1900 years. During Emperor Qianlong’s southern tour in the Qing Dynasty, they were named ‘Pure, Strange, Ancient, and Bizarre’. The ‘Pure’ tree has a straight trunk, a sturdy physique, and lush green leaves; the ‘Strange’ tree is old and vigorous, with peculiar branches resembling a green peak, and its trunk is cracked, leaving an empty cavity, similar to a split gourd, large enough to accommodate a person standing inside; the ‘Ancient’ tree has little bark, a bald top, and is covered with wrinkles, like a hundred ropes wrapped around its body; the ‘Bizarre’ tree was once struck by lightning and split into two, one part has rooted far from the original and lies on the ground in three bends, while the other part, the mother tree, lies on the ground with its head raised like a dragon, ready to soar. The ‘Shurangama Sutra Stone Carvings’ in the stele corridor are listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Jiangsu Province. The temple is open all year round from 08:30 to 17:00. Preferential policies include free admission for children under 6 years old or under 1.4 meters in height, free admission for seniors over 70 years old with valid identification, free admission for active military personnel, retired military officers, and the disabled with valid identification, and half-price admission for children, students, and the elderly aged between 6 and 18 years old, full-time undergraduate and below students, and seniors aged between 60 and 69 years old with valid identification.
