In life, have you ever felt this way: ‘Being with a close partner, although we never part or argue, it is hard to truly establish a deep, free, and mutually responsive connection. The distance between us seems close, yet it feels so far.’ This is not necessarily the fatigue of a relationship that has lasted too long, but it might be the state of ‘pseudo-intimacy’ – many people’s emotional connections are based on superficial states, followed by a state of inaction. Everyone is in the web of intimate relationships, yet few know that intimacy can also be illusory. Nowadays, you will see many people, based on their reasonable understanding of the current era, growing up in the post-modern youth, so mobile, changing, and uncertain. It is precisely because they have felt the emptiness behind the structure, yet unfortunately, they are in monogamous love, or what can be called the intimate relationship bound by the spirit of contract. The Western sociologist, Erich Fromm of the Frankfurt School, said in ‘The Art of Loving’, ‘I need you because I love you; I am loved because I love.’ Love is the premise throughout, just as you cannot wake up someone pretending to sleep, but you can awaken someone who buries emotions deep in their heart. The fear in relationships is not encountering problems, but the fear that you thought you wouldn’t leave, you understood me, but the deviated view of affection makes those who could have grown old together turn into familiar strangers. ‘We actually live well together, but it always feels like something is missing.’ This exhibition features works from nine artists, presenting to the public the five aspects of ‘pseudo-intimacy’ through the forms of expression of paintings, digital images, and sculptural installations: early family education issues; life experiences; emotional transmission; emotional closure; and releasing intimacy. The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 09:30-17:30 all year round; closed all day on Mondays.
