Lixi Pavilion, completed in 1929, was once located at Cai Zhen Alley No. 7 and served as the residence of Yao Yecheng and Chiang Wei-kuo in Suzhou. After the liberation, the property was taken over by the government. In 1952, it became the foreign guest reception center for the Suzhou People’s Committee. For several decades, it primarily hosted foreign affairs receptions, with many domestic dignitaries also staying here. In 2005, Lixi Pavilion underwent a protective restoration and reinforcement. It is not open to the public; visits are only allowed for those staying or dining here, with a reservation required at the front desk one hour in advance.
