The Former Residence of Zhang Pu was built during the Tianqi and Chongzhen periods of the Ming Dynasty. Unfortunately, the main entrance and backyard have long been abandoned. Only a three-entry combined through-turreted building remains, but it has a typical Ming and Qing architectural style. The entire building is complete with brackets, exquisite craftsmanship, and ingenious layout. With surrounding corridors and side rooms, it is almost like a maze.

It is a typical and complete Ming Dynasty building. It is also currently the location of the city museum. It houses the county museum, the exhibition rooms of Tang Wenzhi and Yu Qingtang’s deeds, the Fushe Memorial Hall, the cultural relics exhibition hall, the Taicang Celebrity Hall, and the ‘Four Kings’ Memorial Hall. Zhang Pu was a successful candidate in the imperial examinations during the Chongzhen period of the Ming Dynasty.

He was a writer in the late Ming Dynasty and the author of ‘Fushe’ and ‘Epitaph for Five People’.
