Jinmen was built in 1922. In 1921, Nanxin Bridge was built to connect Guanqian Street and Changmen commercial area. However, in the next year, the Jiangsu-Zhejiang War between warlords Qi Xieyuan and Lu Yongxiang broke out, bringing disaster to Suzhou. The gentry thought that opening Jinmen was unfavorable, so they bricked it up again and opened a new Changmen 60 meters to the south. The new Changmen is directly opposite Jingde Road, which seems convenient. But after leaving the city, one still has to turn a corner and then go up Nanxin Bridge. Moreover, the location and height are not appropriate. Therefore, in 1929, the construction of reopening Jinmen started and was completed in 1931. The outside is in a straight line with Nanxin Bridge, and the inside is connected with Jingde Road in a curve. The city gate is Romanesque and also has three gates.
Opening hours: Open all day throughout the year.Jinmen
