The history of Sha Po Wei Sheltered Dock dates back to before the Ming Dynasty. Early Xiamen Port was a bay in the shape of an arc, with this area of the bay resembling a crescent, and golden beaches stretching as one, hence the beautiful name ‘Yu Sha Po’. Historically, it was divided into two areas, ‘Sha Po Head’ and ‘Sha Po Wei’, with the boundary being a stream converging from Bi Shan Rock. The estuary of the stream is precisely where the current Sha Po Wei Sheltered Dock is located.
