Also known as the Home of Overseas Chinese in Yangzhou, Er Fen Ming Yue Lou derives its name from the renowned verse, ‘The world shares three parts of the bright moonlight, two parts are whimsically attributed to Yangzhou.’ Constructed during the mid-Qing Dynasty, the garden features a mountainous area and a seven-room long building. Above the building hangs a plaque inscribed with ‘Er Fen Ming Yue Lou’ by Qian Yong of the Qing Dynasty.

The building’s railings are delicately designed, resembling a reclining beauty; the roof eaves are upturned, capturing an ethereal charm. To the east of the garden stands a yellow stone rockery; ascending the steps leads to the Eastern Pavilion, where the garden’s mountains and waters are fully appreciated. The water is subtly implied, achieving a state of presence without visible form, truly a superior example of Yangzhou’s ‘dry garden with water features’ private gardens.
