Wang Anshi’s Former Residence is a historical site in Nanjing, located near Banshan Pavilion on Qingxi Road, within the current Nanjing Naval Military Academy. The residence is named Banshan Garden because it is situated at a midpoint, 7 miles away from both Jiangning City’s East Gate and the main peak of Zhongshan Mountain. After the liberation, Banshan Garden was reconstructed.
The reconstructed Banshan Garden is divided into an eastern and western courtyard, connected by a garden gate. The western courtyard is the main one, with two sections and three bays, featuring grey tiles, whitewashed walls, and a simple yet elegant style. The red and pink flower-patterned lattice windows are unadorned. It is not open to the public.
