The Taiping Gate is located on the northeast wall of Nanjing City. It is one of the thirteen inner city gates of Nanjing Ming City Wall. It was initially built in 1368 in the Ming Dynasty. As there is a prison outside the city gate, the cries of prisoners can be heard from time to time. People hope for peace and harmony inside the city, so it is called ‘Taiping Gate’. This place has experienced the flames of war of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Movement and the atrocities of Japan back then. The current Taiping Gate is the Taiping Gate passage rebuilt in 2014 by reconnecting the wall sections of Long Neck and Jiuhua Mountain. Open all year round and all day. The specific business status is subject to the opening situation on that day.
