After an eight-year hiatus, the Russian top electronic post-rock band I am waiting for you last summer is once again embarking on a China tour. This time, they will bring their brand-new album ‘Without/Within’ to nine cities across the nation for a completely upgraded live performance. If you have witnessed their performances in 2014 or 2016, you must remember their explosive and impactful shows. Without further endorsement, I believe you won’t miss this exciting tour. If you regret missing their past tours, do not let this unique audio-visual feast pass you by.
I am waiting for you last summer was established in 2011 and in 2013, the band became a resident member of the independent label Flowers Blossom In the Space, releasing their debut studio album ‘Edge Party’ in January of that year. The album showcased iwfyls’ talents, blending lively electronic beats with spacey and imaginative instrumentals, which captivated listeners with an ethereal and dreamy atmosphere. You can hear a mix of experimental, electronic, instrumental, and post-rock elements in this album, intertwining yet distinct. At the end of the year following the release of ‘Edge Party’, iwfyls launched their new album ‘In Eternal Lines’. Compared to their previous album, iwfyls focused more on atmosphere and emotional progression while maintaining the post-rock style, making the overall style deeper and more restrained. ‘Retreat’ starts with a soothing rhythm, gradually introducing intense beats and complex instrumentals, providing a progressive auditory experience. ‘Lights Go Out’ creates a dark, oppressive atmosphere, expressing strong and profound emotions, which is the effect iwfyls aimed for in producing the entire album. This epic album also made iwfyls well-known in the Russian post-rock scene, followed by a 70-city tour across Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus, with tickets selling out for every show. All attendees were amazed by iwfyls’ unique passion and coolness. In 2015, the prolific iwfyls brought their first concept album ‘Mirrors’. From the album cover design to the overall musical arrangement, ‘Mirrors’ presents a strong outer space science fiction atmosphere. Listening to this album, you might feel as if you are roaming in the mysterious, deep, and vast outer space, with the unique dark, profound, and lonely feelings of post-rock music enveloping you. This might be related to Alex’s recent work on the soundtracks for Hollywood movies like ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ and ‘X-Men’. During this period, iwfyls also became more mature and innovative, with their musical works not only continuing the previous works’ full expression of sonic speed and gravity but also boldly exploring style and concept. In the following years, iwfyls’ works became increasingly dark and profound, attempting to capture the essence of melancholy deep within the soul and expressing it through their musical language.Electronic, post-rock, atmospheric, metal, dreamy, and avant-garde, iwfyls navigates through various music styles without being confined by definitions. Their live performances consistently deliver a powerful and impactful style, as if igniting the audience’s passion in an instant. Explosive drum beats, passionate guitar solos, and震撼的 bass lines, coupled with intricate DJ mixing and sampling, each performance brings an ultimate auditory impact to the audience, placing them in the midst of a musical storm, as intense and potent as ‘national vodka’. Every encounter is the best arrangement; the I am waiting for you last summer tour awaits you to experience the magic of live music. Open on December 20th, Friday, with the show starting at 20:30. The duration of the performance is subject to change based on the live event.
