Nanjing National Defense Park is a park themed around national defense education, covering an area of 20 hectares.
The park boasts beautiful scenery, centered around a distinctive group of pavilion buildings, with Yanwang River to the north, heavy weaponry field to the west, and Shicheng Mountain to the south. It combines the style of a classical garden with a modern military atmosphere.
The park primarily cultivates rhododendrons, with tens of thousands of various rhododendrons planted naturally on hills and under the forest canopy, resembling a natural masterpiece. Every April and May, the park is filled with blooming rhododendrons in a riot of colors.
The park’s exhibition halls consist of three exhibition rooms: the National Defense Education Hall, the Military Branch Hall, and the Military History Hall. Centered around the distinctive pavilion buildings, the park combines classical garden style with a modern military atmosphere. It includes a simulated exercise field, heavy weaponry field, National Defense Education Hall, Military Branch Hall, and Heroic Model Hall. The National Defense Education Hall features numerous images and materials detailing over 2400 years of multiple battles in the Nanjing area since 570 BC.
Now, the Nanjing National Defense Park has become an important base for carrying out revolutionary traditional education and national defense knowledge education. The park is open all year round from 06:00 to 18:00, and the exhibition halls are closed every Monday.
