Jin Su An Temple

Jin Su An Temple, located to the west of Nanjing’s Zhonghua Gate, is one of the ‘Four Hundred and Eighty Temples of the Southern Dynasties’. It is said to have deep connections with Gu Kaizhi and the Wagon Temple. In the 1990s, under the leadership of the abbot, Quan Cheng, who was determined to protect and promote the cultural heritage of the motherland, Jin Su An Temple was partially restored with the help of many devotees and the support of government departments.

Inside the temple, there is also an image of the Japanese Master Ci Jue, which was donated by the Japanese Tendai Buddhist Youth Association during their visit to China in 1994 to trace the origins of Japanese Tendai Buddhism, highlighting another connection between Jin Su An Temple, Wagon Temple, and Japanese Buddhism dating back more than 1200 years. Amidst the bustling ancient capital, with the morning bells and evening drums, this small temple exudes its own solemn and pure Buddhist atmosphere. The temple is open all year round, accessible 24 hours a day.
