Jiuhuashan Park, though not expansive, has been a royal playground for emperors throughout the ages. However, its contemporary allure stems from the Xuanzang Temple on the mountain. A portion of the skull of the Tang Monk Xuanzang is interred within the Tripitaka Pagoda at the summit, with the foundation of the pagoda also featuring detailed maps of the eminent monk’s fragrant journey to the Western Regions. As a result, Jiuhuashan, housing Buddhist relics, exudes an aura of spirituality, attracting the devout to worship with the hope that Xuanzang’s unwavering wisdom and energy will help them shed aggression and embrace peace and tranquility. Jiuhuashan is also known as ‘Jiuhua Danqing’, one of the 48 scenic spots of Jinling, showcasing its natural charm. Surrounded by the Ming Dynasty city walls, visitors can ascend to enjoy panoramic views of the clear and tranquil Xuanwu Lake before them and the lush mountain forests behind. Strolling through Jiuhuashan on weekends or during leisure time is a refreshing and healthy pleasure. The park is open all year round from 08:00 to 17:00, with specific operational status subject to daily conditions.
