In August 2001, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it is a teaching and research comprehensive university with engineering as its characteristics, formed by the merger of the former Jiangsu University of Technology, Zhenjiang Medical College and others. The university has the same origin as Nanjing University, Southeast University and other schools. Its school-running history can be traced back to Sanjiang Normal School established in Nanjing in 1902. In 1978, it was identified as one of the 88 key universities in the country. In 1981, it became one of the first batch of universities in the country with the right to grant doctoral and master’s degrees and has a graduate school.
