Echoes of Nature – A National Touring Exhibition of Indigenous Art showcases paintings exclusively created by individuals with mental and psychological disabilities. Once unable to attend school, secure employment, or even manage their daily lives due to their conditions, these individuals became a burden to their families and society. However, by opening a window and providing a space free from judgment, where they can freely express their innate nature and inspiration, astonishing works of art have been born! These pieces have made their way into prestigious art venues, both domestically and internationally.
More importantly, as these individuals continue to produce and accumulate their creations, their symptoms gradually ease. They have become more open and confident, even taking the initiative to care for their parents, thereby reducing the financial burden on their families. They are no longer forgotten by society but have become creators of artistic masterpieces.
This round of the exhibition features 173 works from 60 indigenous artists with various mental and psychological disabilities from 11 provinces and cities across China. The inaugural exhibition, supported by the Shenzhen Longgang District Cultural Fund as a public welfare project, was a resounding success. It received full affirmation from government leaders and praise from numerous social organizations and the general public. The exhibition is open from October 10th to January 10th, with specific operating status subject to daily opening conditions.
