Harmony Villas is located at No. 59, Foreign Ministry Street, Dongcheng District, Beijing. It was built by the Rockefeller Foundation’s China Medical Board when constructing the Peking Union Medical College Hospital, serving as a top residential area exclusively for senior professors of the hospital. Completed in 1921, the villa complex is now visible from Dongdan North Street and is one of Beijing’s significant modern historical sites and representative buildings.

At the entrance, a gate with three arched doorways in a row, reminiscent of the American gatehouse featured in ‘Love in Harvard,’ marks the entrance. The courtyard spans approximately 127 meters from north to south and 140 meters from east to west. The south end of the central axis is the gate, while the north end features a two-and-a-half-story row house with a brick and wood structure, grey brick walls, and a very elegant appearance.

The southern district consists of three groups of independent residences symmetrically arranged around the central axis, with a circular loop road and flower beds at the center. An early Western-style building is located on the eastern side of the garden. The courtyard is filled with the sounds of birds and the scent of flowers, with towering trees and American-style country villas that are elegant and unique. In spring, the cherry blossoms in the villa area are in full bloom, magnolia buds are about to bloom, and sporadic magenta flowers dot the flower beds. The buildings are nestled under the greenery, creating a tranquil and peaceful atmosphere.

Opening Hours: This is a residential area, accessible during the day, but visitors are requested to maintain quietness and not disturb the residents’ lives.
