China Sports Museum

The China Sports Museum is located on Anding Road in Beijing. It is at the southeast corner of the National Olympic Sports Center. The entire building spreads out in an octagonal fan shape and rises spirally, symbolizing the development of China’s sports cause.

On September 22, 1990, the China Sports Museum officially opened. After a long gestation period of ten years, from the formulation of plans by the State Sports General Administration to implementation, the entire process has received the support of the country and the attention of IOC President Samaranch. It has also received generous donations from Mr. Henry Fok. Many unsung heroes have put in hard work and sweat for this.

Today, with its unique style and a scale of 7,100 square meters, and with several themes including ancient Chinese sports, modern Chinese sports, sports achievements of the People’s Republic of China, and ethnic sports, it showcases the glorious achievements of China’s sports development and is an important window for understanding Chinese sports.
