Kailuan National Mine Park is located in the southeast of Tangshan city, and it is a large theme park primarily focused on coal mine culture. The scenic area is centered around the Kailuan coal mine, established in 1878, showcasing the history of coal mining, the process of coal extraction, and historical events, making it an excellent place to learn about the knowledge and history of coal collection.
The scenic area is mainly divided into two parts: one is the Kailuan Museum, and the other is the Underground Exploration Tour. The Kailuan Museum is the main building in the park, displaying the founding process of the Kailuan coal mine, the history of coal collection, methods, and types of coal, as well as a display and review of historical coal miners, allowing visitors to gain knowledge about the late Qing Dynasty’s Westernization Movement and the history of coal mining, with rich content. The Underground Exploration Tour is a featured project of the scenic area. To visit, one must first enter the Kailuan Museum, so it is necessary to purchase tickets for both places, and it is recommended to buy a combined ticket. The Underground Exploration Tour starts from the fourth floor of the museum with a canister-style elevator that takes you directly into the former Kailuan coal mine. The underground site has the original coal collection scene of the miners, which is now restored with wax figures, sound, light, and electricity to recreate the collection scene of that time, making it very distinctive and a good place to understand the working conditions of coal mining. In addition to these two main parts, there is a display of former coal mining machinery on the square in the park, and the square is surrounded by lush green trees, creating a very beautiful environment. It is also very pleasant to take a walk and relax on the square after visiting the museum. The park is open from 01/01 to 12/31, Tuesday to Sunday, 08:30-18:00; closed on Mondays.
