The Bund Origin is located at 33 Zhongshan East Road, formerly the site of the British Consulate in Shanghai. It includes the main building of the former British Consulate (now known as The Bund Origin No. 1) and the annex building of the former British Consulate. The main building of the British Consulate was originally constructed in 1849 (during the reign of Emperor Daoguang), and the well-preserved structure dates back to its reconstruction in 1872 (during the reign of Emperor Tongzhi).

The façade exhibits the British Renaissance style, with a typical English garden in front of the building; the roof features a Western-style gable roof, yet it is covered with traditional Chinese blue tiles. The annex building is more ornate in architectural style compared to the main building, with added decorations on both its façade and interior. It is open all year round, accessible 24/7.
