The University History Museum of Shanghai Jiao Tong University is located on the second and third floors of the old library, with a total exhibition area of over 600 square meters. The museum consists of three exhibition halls. The first hall spans from the establishment of Nanyang Public School to the liberation of Shanghai, divided into three periods: ‘Initial Establishment of Nanyang Public School’, ‘Building a Modern Engineering University’, and ‘Jiaotong University Integrating Science, Engineering, and Management’. The second hall covers the period from the liberation of Shanghai to the present. These two halls display nearly 700 valuable cultural relics, documents, and photographic materials, reflecting the school’s development over a century and the fruitful achievements of its academic research. The third hall is dedicated to the achievements of academicians of Shanghai Jiao Tong University who are members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. It exhibits photos, documents, and physical objects of nearly 200 academicians who have studied or taught at Jiao Tong University, arranged in order of their birth dates, with an emphasis on their biographies and major achievements. The third exhibition room also includes the ‘Professor Lin Tongyan Exhibition Room’, displaying more than 300 items including photos, writings, papers, and image materials of the renowned Jiao Tong University alumnus, internationally recognized structural engineer, educator, and Chinese-American scholar, Mr. Lin Tongyan. The opening hours are Monday to Friday: 9:00-11:00, 14:00-16:30; during winter and summer vacations: Tuesday and Thursday 9:00-11:00, 14:00-16:30.
