Ancient Town of Sijing

The ancient town of Sijing has a rich history, known as the ‘Roots of Shanghai’. If traced back to the formation of the village during the Northern Song Dynasty, it has almost a thousand years of history. Initially, Sijing was called Huibo Village in the early period, and was renamed Qijian Village during the Southern Song Dynasty. It wasn’t until the mid-Yuan Dynasty, when four streams, Wai Bo Jing, Tong Bo Jing, Dong Jing, and Zhang Jing, converged here, that it was officially named Sijing. In recent years, the ancient town of Sijing has seen significant development, yet its fame remains relatively low compared to other ancient towns such as Zhujiajiao and Qibao. It is open to visitors all year round, with full-day access.
