The former residence of Du Yuesheng, a prominent figure in old Shanghai, is where he truly lived during his lifetime.
The Du Mansion is composed of a two-story Chinese-style stone gate building and a three-story building with a blend of Chinese and Western architectural styles. Initially constructed in 1926, the entire complex covers an area of 1062 square meters.
The brick and wood structure on the second floor and the living room within the main building were gifts from Huang Jinrong to Du Yuesheng.
After the liberation, the mansion was used by the East China Beijing Opera Troupe. In 1955, it was handed over to Dasheng Injection Needle Factory for use. Starting from 1973, it was utilized by the Municipal Tool Equipment Company.
In the mid-1990s, a Canadian of Chinese descent purchased it at a high price.
