Located in Yuzhong District, Chongqing, the former site of Meifeng Bank stands as a testament to the city’s historical evolution. Once a prominent Sino-foreign joint venture bank, Meifeng Bank operated in a seven-story building, which was among the tallest and most iconic structures in Chongqing at the time.
With the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Meifeng Bank ceased its operations, marking the end of an era. The building subsequently became the office for the People’s Bank of China, continuing its legacy in the financial sector.
This architectural relic remains a significant part of Chongqing’s urban history, reflecting the city’s transformation and its enduring connection to China’s financial development.
