The Jinfo Mountain North Slope Scenic Area is located in Nanchuan District, Chongqing. The scenic spots mainly include the Wogu Ginkgo Garden at the foot of the mountain, and on the mountain there are primitive ecological stone forests, Gufo Cave, ski resort, Yaochiba, Guanyunge, and cliff plank roads. The cliff plank road combines cliffs and caves. With a total length of 3,500 meters, it connects a series of scenic spots such as Golden Turtle Facing the Sun, Swallow Cave, Lingguan Cave, and ecological stone forest like a string of pearls.
When tourists step on the plank road, it is like walking in the air. Under special climatic conditions, tourists can not only view the sea of clouds on Jinfo Mountain but also may encounter the miraculous spectacle of ‘Buddha’s halo’. The Swallow Cave is the habitat of the rare animal, the rock swallow. When the rock swallows go out for food or return to their nests, tourists can see the spectacular scene of tens of thousands of swallows flying together. The Gufo Cave is known as ‘the number one Buddha cave in the world’. It has a long history. According to scientific determination, the cave was formed 5 million years ago and is the world’s oldest karst high-altitude cave system. It has a high altitude of up to 2,100 meters. It has a large capacity. The detected length is more than 25 kilometers. The developed cave is more than 2,000 meters long and has an area of 46,480 square meters. The entrance of the Gufo Cave is about 5 meters high and 3 meters wide. After entering the cave, turn left. The passage is tortuous and winding. The narrowest part is only wide enough for a single person to pass through, which is called ’72 turns’. After walking about 70 meters along the narrow passage, the cave suddenly opens up and enters an underground hall with an area of more than 10,000 square meters. There are scenic spots such as the descending Buddha and stone coffin in the hall. Walking about 400 meters to the left, the cave gradually shrinks and forms a large artificial tunnel-like passage. It slopes upward and exits. The exit is on the sheer cliff directly north of Jinfo Mountain. It is about 20 meters high and about 40 meters wide. It is crescent-shaped. Looking into the distance, the peaks and ridges of the north slope are all at your feet, and the urban area of Nanchuan is clearly visible. What is particularly peculiar is that the Gufo Cave is exactly on the big belly of the sleeping Buddha, and there is also a descending ancient Buddha in the big belly of the Gufo Cave.The opening hours are from 08:00 to 17:30 all year round.
