Laitan Ancient Town is located on Jiufeng Mountain, 32 kilometers east of Hechuan City, Chongqing. Surrounded by Qujiang River, it integrates ancient temples, ancient cities and ancient Buddhas. The scenery is beautiful.
Laitan Ancient Town has a long history. In the Song Dynasty, it had initially formed the scale of a market town. The ancient town is adjacent to Qujiang River, with beautiful natural scenery. The Ming and Qing dwellings are scattered at different heights. The old streets and alleys are simple and elegant. The urn city built in the Qing Dynasty is now well preserved and is unique in Chongqing.

Laitan Ancient Town is divided into upper and lower parts. They are very close to each other. They are like brothers and sisters. One is high and the other is low. One is up and the other is down. One is firm and the other is soft, taking care of each other.

The upper part is located on Jiufeng Mountain overlooking Qujiang River. Its momentum is majestic and has a magnificent masculine beauty. The stockade wall is high. It is like a dragon coiling and a tiger crouching among the mountains.

Laitan Stockade covers an area of 0.25 square kilometers. The four city gates are symmetrically cross-shaped. The stockade wall is all made of strip stones more than half a meter long. The wall is 7 meters high and 2.5 meters wide. It forms a sharp contrast with modern building structures and has unique ancient characteristics.

The ancient stockade still retains the appearance of an old castle. There are narrow and curved stone streets and alleys with appropriate scales and more than 400 dwellings from the Qing Dynasty. The well-arranged small green-tiled building complex with a wooden structure basically maintains the original style and features of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is simple and elegant, giving people a feeling of returning to simplicity and entering a peaceful mountain town.

Opening hours: Open all year round and all day.
