The original name of Ayi River is Changxi River. It originates from Fenshui Township, Wuchuan County, Guizhou Province. It winds northeastward and enters Pengshui County, Chongqing City. It passes through Changqiba, Zhouzituo and Sanjiangkou, and flows into Wujiang River at Changxitang in Wanzuo Township. Ayi River is located in Pengshui Miao and Tujia Autonomous County, Chongqing City. The Miao people call kind, beautiful and intelligent women ‘Jiao Ayi’, so Ayi River gets its name. The Ayi River scenic area integrates mountains, waters, forests, springs and gorges, and combines magnificence, strangeness, danger, beauty and tranquility. The scenic area is divided into three tourist areas (canyon sightseeing area, walking sightseeing area, and bamboo raft sightseeing area). There are eight tourist items: listening to the sound in the canyon, singing on bamboo rafts, playing in the green pool, riding the waves, falling in love in the Miao stockade, Qinglong Tianti (Qinglong Sky Ladder), Qinglong Cave and Qinglong Valley. When walking through, you can see rare flowers and plants, ancient vines and old trees; when boating on the river, you can enjoy the rapids and dangerous shoals, and the raging green waves; when staying overnight in the stockade, you can taste Miao delicacies and experience ethnic customs. It is a good place for leisure sightseeing, folk custom experience, outdoor rock climbing and water sports.
