Shanwangping Karst National Ecological Park is situated on the second terrace above the eastern slope of the main peak of the Dalou Mountain, Jinfeng Mountain. It is divided into four major sections: Wangyue Lake-Shenfeng Ridge, Ecological Stone Forest, Forest Recreation, and Camping Area, with an altitude ranging from 1200 meters to 1570 meters. This area is characterized by a typical dissected highland plateau geomorphology, and it is home to extensive Karst ecological stone forests and approximately 1374 species of higher plants.
The terrain within the scenic area is complex, with intense dissection and well-developed karst formations. The diverse stone mountains, stone forests, and stone stalagmites form a natural ‘ecological stone forest’ landscape. Uniquely shaped flowers and trees grow on the stone pillars and peaks, entwined with ancient vines, creating countless pictographic attractions such as ‘Dead Wood Revival,’ ‘Stone Guanyin,’ ‘Flying Buddha,’ ‘Pen Holder Stone,’ ‘Qinglong Chu Shan,’ ‘Yuxiang Yuan Yao,’ and ‘One Line Sky.’ These vivid attractions form a natural picture, akin to a natural bonsai garden, evoking endless reverie and delightful interest.
The entrance area of the scenic spot is one of Chongqing’s larger artificial ginkgo forests and hosta bases. In summer, the white hosta flowers bloom beneath the ginkgo trees, presenting a very beautiful scene. The summit of the scenic area features a very rare summit herbaceous swamp—reed marsh, where extensive water fir and cryptomeria forests are planted. In autumn, the golden water fir forests and green cryptomeria forests are interspersed, complementing each other and creating a spectacular view.
