Located within the territory of Duzhou Town, Changshou District, Chongqing City, the Longevity Bodhi Mountain Cultural Tourism Area is one of the ancient eight scenic spots of Changshou, with an elevation of 589 meters. The mountaintop features three watersheds, each with varying heights. Dense forests connect the ridges, exuding a lush green vibrancy. Historically, a Ming Dynasty monk named Dazhi cast an iron pillar over 16 meters long, which was inserted into the peak and lit with lamps, casting light in all directions at night, visible from afar.
The planned area of the scenic area is approximately 14 square kilometers, with the core area covering about 5 square kilometers. The overall planning of the scenic area is structured as ‘one core, two wings, and five zones’: ‘one core’ refers to the core sightseeing of the temple’s sacred lamp; ‘two wings’ represent leisure and the tracing of longevity culture; the current temple faces west and east, with five major halls all made of solid wood; more than one hundred Bodhisattva statues within the temple are meticulously carved from precious timber. Among them, the statue of Bodhidharma stands at 5.9 meters tall, sculpted from a whole piece of golden nanmu (Phyllostachys pubescens), a rare sight in China; the statue of the Thousand-Armed Guanyin is carved from sandalwood. The scenic area is open all year round, 24/7, with sightseeing vehicles operating from 9:00 to 17:00. Preferential policies include free entry for children under 6 years old or under 1. 2 meters in height, half-price for students aged between 6 and 18, and full-time undergraduates or lower, half-price for seniors aged between 60 and 65, and free entry for those aged 65 and above; free entry for active-duty military personnel, martyrs’ families, revolutionary disabled soldiers, and retired military officers; and free entry for the disabled. Service facilities include a parking lot: [Bodhi Mountain Parking Lot] with a reference price of 6 yuan per day for small cars and 12 yuan per day for large vehicles; 200 spaces available from 00:00 to 23:59. Mobile phone charging, luggage storage, and transportation within the park are available. The reference price for transportation is 20 yuan for a round trip, 15 yuan for going up the mountain, and 10 yuan for coming down. Baby stroller and wheelchair rentals, restrooms, visitor service centers, electric vehicle transfer centers, and smoking areas are located at the start of the walking path, the middle of the walking path, and at the entrance and inside the temple.
