In the 1950s, Liu Guorjiang, a villager from Gaotan Village in Zhongshan Ancient Town, Jiangjin, Chongqing, fell in love with Xu Chaoqing, who was 10 years his senior. To escape the gossip of the world, they eloped to a deep mountain forest at an altitude of 1500 meters, living self-sufficiently and raising seven children with wild vegetables and their own hands. To ensure Xu Chaoqing’s safety, Liu Guorjiang spent his entire life carving stone steps on the cliff, creating over 6000 steps over several decades, which are known as the ‘Love Stairs’. The Love Stairs are located in Changle Village, Zhongshan Ancient Town, Simian Mountain Scenic Area, Jiangjin, Chongqing. It is the perfect place to bring your loved one to experience the greatness of love. Climb each step and feel the hardship Liu Guorjiang endured alone in carving these steps, cherishing the love of the present. Open all year round, open all day, with specific business status subject to the day’s opening conditions.
