Dongxi Ancient Town is located at the Dongxi exit of the Chongqing-Guizhou Expressway in Qijiang County, only one hour’s drive from the main city of Chongqing. It is situated at the confluence of the Qijiang River and Dingshan River, embodying the charm of a thousand-year-old town with the essence of ‘small bridges, flowing water, and homes.’
The town has been established for over 2,200 years and has been a town for more than 1,300 years. In the second year of the Wude era of Emperor Gaozu of Tang (619 AD), Danxian County was established here, making it rich in historical and cultural landscapes. The Dongding River, Fulin River, and Qi River meet at this location, with more than 3,000 ancient Banyan trees forming a significant Banyan tree cluster in the southwestern region. Coupled with the Ming and Qing Dynasty’s unique dougong structure stilted buildings, they create the serene atmosphere of ‘small bridges, flowing water, and homes.’ This place has always been a sketching site for art college students and teachers, and it is also the filming location for the TV series ‘Foolish Commander.’ The ancient town boasts a wealth of cultural landscapes and beautiful natural scenery.
