The Xiaoxi Scenic and Historic Interest Area, designated as a ‘provincial scenic and historic interest area’ in 1995, has since been upgraded to a municipal-level scenic area within Chongqing City. Nestled on the west bank of the Wu River, this picturesque region is a mere 12 kilometers from the urban heart of Fuling, Chongqing.

Spanning an area of 1.42 square kilometers in the central-northern part of the overall scenic area, the core zone is a treasure trove of both natural and cultural resources. The natural beauty of the Xiaoxi Scenic and Historic Interest Area is characterized by its karst caves, pristine waters, stone bridges, and stone fortresses. The cultural tapestry is rich with ancient Ba king sites, reflecting a deep-seated Ba cultural heritage.

Visitors to the area can expect a diverse range of attractions, including deep karst caves, waterfall pools, and breathtaking mountain and river vistas, alongside a vibrant cultural landscape. The main points of interest encompass five sites: the Ancient Path Leading to Seclusion, the Overpass Lying on Waves, and the Underground Dragon Palace. Notably, the natural stone arch bridge within the Overpass Lying on Waves is a standout feature. Comprising three bridges, the most impressive measures 100 meters in length, 20 meters in width, and 60 meters in height, truly a marvel of nature.
