The Xuanzang Temple is a Tang-style building. The square floor tiles exude a sense of smoothness and simplicity.
On the outer wall of the temple, there are three relief carvings and inscriptions of Xuanzang’s journey to the Western Regions. On the left is the commemoration of Japan-Taiwan friendship. In the middle is the biography of Master Xuanzang of the Tang Dynasty. On the right is the monument to friendly exchanges between Chinese and Japanese Buddhism. In addition, there are two stone statues in front of the gate.

There is a large drum in front of the hall. Climbing up the stairs, one can see the wake-up bell for people to strike. Xuanzang is a famous monk in the Tang Dynasty. He was ordered by Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty to go to India to fetch scriptures. After more than ten years, he returned to China. He wrote more than 650 scriptures. Together with his disciples, he translated 75 scriptures, totaling 1335 volumes.

He made outstanding contributions to the development of Buddhism in China. During the Sino-Japanese War, the Japanese took away the relics of Master Xuanzang in Nanjing and enshrined them in Cien Temple in Saitama Prefecture, Japan. In 1955, the relics were brought back to China and enshrined in Xuanguang Temple by the Sun Moon Lake. In November 1965, after the completion of Xuanzang Temple, the relics were moved and enshrined in Xuanzang Temple.
