The Kaohsiung Yu Huang Gong, also known as the Temple of the Jade Emperor. Originally located in Shudeli, Gushan District. During World War II, Kaohsiung Port was severely bombarded by the Allied forces, with many casualties. However, the Xu family was the only one that remained safe. People all said it was under the protection of the Jade Emperor. Since then, the number of believers has gradually increased, and there is an endless stream of worshippers.
In the year of Xinchou, due to the small hall and insufficient space, a reconstruction committee was formed and newly reclaimed land filled on the north side of the newly straightened Second Canal was purchased to rebuild the temple for people to worship. Due to the prosperous incense, in the year of Guichou, a reconstruction committee was formed again. Mr. Xie Ziran was commissioned to design it, and it was completed in the year of Dingsi. The rebuilt Yu Huang Gong is resplendent and full of spiritual energy. It is a well-known temple in Sankuaicuo.

Every year at midnight on the first day of the first lunar month, devout believers will come to Yu Huang Gong to ‘grab the first incense stick’ to seek smoothness throughout the year. On the eve of the birthday of the Jade Emperor on the ninth day of the first lunar month, at midnight on the eighth day, people can be seen offering five fruits and fresh flowers for worship. In the past, sacrificial offerings had to be prepared for worshipping the Jade Emperor. Now pastries (such as pineapple cakes) are used instead.

Opening hours: Open all year round from 5:20 to 22:00.
