The lush and scenic Renyitan is located in Fanlu Township. With its natural irregular shape, the long embankment along the lake shore is shrouded in a hazy mist that stretches out and forms an approach leading deep into a picturesque scene. Ahead is a deep pool with calm waters like a mirror and occasional fish leaping out of the water. In the distance are mountains surrounded by mist and wild birds darting by from time to time, adding infinite beauty to Renyitan. Due to the rapid development of industry and commerce in Chiayi area and the sharp increase in population, public water supply and industrial water rely only on Lantan Reservoir and groundwater, which is insufficient. In view of this, the government actively planned and constructed Renyitan Reservoir on the east side of Lantan in 1979. It officially began to store water in August 1987 and is used in parallel with Lantan Reservoir. Here it supplies drinking water for the entire Chiayi city and county and is a great leisure place for people on holidays. There are pavilions built by Renyitan, with flourishing flowers and trees and a broad view. Enjoying the scenery, taking a rest, flying kites here or watching the sunset and evening glow is extremely poetic. Around it, you can also visit the third-class historic site ‘Tomb of the First-Rank Lady’ and the beautiful ‘Yuxu Palace’. In addition, there is a well-planned embankment trail by the lake, where many tourists can be seen taking walks and doing sports. In addition to fresh air, at night, you can also feel the beauty of blending with the natural starry sky. The shimmering waves are so captivating that people linger and forget to leave.

Open all year round and open all day.

Must-see tips: In the morning, walking on the dam, a cool breeze blows on your face. Looking into the distance, the water and sky merge into one color, calm and undisturbed. Gulls skim with their wings. It’s really a wonderful place.
