Yazhou Ancient Yue Cultural Tourism Area is located in Jiyang Town, Sanya City, at the junction of the East Line Expressway towards Wuzhi Mountain, with convenient transportation. ‘Yazhou’ is the ancient name for Sanya City; ‘Yue’ is a general term for the ethnic minorities in the southern part of China. This region has been a settlement for the Li and Miao people since ancient times. The Li villages are mostly located on the gentle slopes of valley buffers or in the mountain basins, where traditional boat-shaped thatched houses, bamboo buildings, and gable-roofed houses of the Li ethnic group are scattered among the greenery. Traditional Li residences are made of thatched houses, known as ‘boat-shaped thatched houses’, and it is said that the shape of these houses symbolizes that the ancestors of the Li people migrated across the sea by boat. Open from January 1st to December 31st, 08:00 to 17:00 daily.
